Materials used in the main body of all CBR Extreme and CBR Escape models is sourced from Dupont. After years of testing Dupont are able to supply a material ideal for our runflat inserts, combining the following attributes:
Durability combined with our required shock absorbing flexibility
Low friction coefficient
High temperature rating
Light cantilever design
Operating temperature range from -40C to 160C
The flexibility provided by its advanced design and material enables the new “Active Beadlock” concept to provide efficient lateral beadlock force into the tyre´s beads. Additional width adjustment is also built in to ensure correct beadlock application regardless of tyre bead or wheel tolerance variations.

Ballistics tests have successfully proved the materials used in CBR Extreme and Escape construction do not shatter, crack or break when shot with 7.62 rounds. Below is a section from CBR Extreme following ballistic testing:

Runflat segment intact after penetration with 7.62mm rounds
7 rounds were fired through the complete runflat in total
CBR Extreme and Escape do not shatter, crack or break
High quality materials used in CBR Extreme and Escape construction
Bullets pass through the material, leaving small entry and exit holes
CBR Extreme can continue to operate effectively after ballistic attack
Bullets pass through the material, leaving very small entry and exit holes as can be seen in the photographs taken after ballistic testing on a standard Runflat CBR. The high quality materials allow the runflat to continue to operate effectively after a ballistic attack.
